In 1965, he participated in his first group exhibitions, and throughout the 1970s he refined his technique and themes. However, his pivotal years as an artist coincide with the last decades of the century.
In the early 1990s, he changed jobs to dedicate more time to painting, emerging with great energy and productivity that enabled him to complete each painting in less than six days. This remarkable pace explains how, over his 49-year career, he achieved a prolific output of 2,853 works.
His style is pure figurative art, marked by thick strokes that bring texture and substance to each piece. He uses vivid colors and consistently captures the shifting light and perspectives in his images. His painting is natural and spontaneous; his canvases are full of life and energy. His technique is consistently oil painting.
His preferred themes include the sea, cities, villages, with occasional forays into the world of bullfighting. His settings convey personality and strength, and his finest works are inspired by the Costa Brava, Mallorca, Galician ports, Albarracín, Cuenca, and various towns in Portugal and France.
Throughout his career, he held 43 exhibitions, and his work is now found in private collections in New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, France, Switzerland, England, Portugal, and Andorra. His work is also held in the Holy See and in the personal office of Bill Clinton.
